Mom, this post isn’t about how to be a better parent. It’s about you and your relationship with God. As you and your family continue to navigate through the pandemic and adjust to an uncertain school year, it’s more important than ever that you make time to talk to God, not out of obligation but out of necessity.
Much like the pre-flight safety instructions where you’re told to put on your own oxygen mask before assisting others, your spiritual well-being needs to be a priority, so that you can be there for others.
We appreciate everything you do on behalf of your children. The daily sacrifices you make don’t go unnoticed, even though it might feel that way sometimes. God sees all your efforts and although you may not experience the rewards right away, He has promised you in His Word that he will bless you for your obedience and faithfulness.
May these prayers help articulate what you are feeling and give you words to communicate those needs to God.
Faithfully Yours
Your word, LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens… Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve you. PSALM 119:89,91
I do not often speak in terms of faithfulness. God, open my eyes to your faithfulness. There is evidence of it all around me. May I, in turn, infuse my daily existence with this gift by following through, considering other people, and serving in this life you have given me.
Before I doubt another person or situation, let me first look at my own level of commitment. Am I faithful to this friend, this project, this effort? Show me what I can do to display commitment and to honor you with a life that is faithfully yours.
Remaining
Brothers and sisters, each person, as responsible to God, should remain in the situation they were in when God called them. 1 CORINTHIANS 7:24
I want to shed my current situation. But I know you have called me to be here. This “now” I am experiencing is within your will. I sense that when I pray for release. You ask me to be patient, willing, and open.
I am overwhelmed by responsibilities I juggle in life. Ordering their priority is not simple. Help me realize that I don’t have to understand how all these pieces fit together in a master plan. My only responsibility is to you. My commitment to rest in my current situation is an act of faith. I follow your call and hold on to the hope of things to come.
Reaching for Faith
Timothy, my son, I am giving you this instruction in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by recalling them you may fight the battle well, holding on to faith and a good conscience. 1 TIMOTHY 1:18-19
Lead me in your instruction today, God. Let me clearly feel your direction as I work and make choices. Maybe you will lead someone to speak words of truth into my life. I have received encouragement and wisdom through friends and even strangers in the past. Do not let me feel alone in my efforts. Direct me toward the fellowship of other believers. Let them counsel me in your way. I will hold on to my faith tightly today, Lord, and wait upon your wisdom.
