Ready to set the tone for 2025? These three prayers, taken from One-Minute Prayers for a Woman’s Year by Hope Lyda, will help you start the year with purpose and peace.
Abundance and Provision
“Refreshment”
You gave abundant showers, O God; you refreshed your weary inheritance. Your people settled in it, and from your bounty, God, you provided for the poor. Psalm 68:9-10
I grow weary on my journey sometimes. You have carried me often, Lord. I have felt used and useless when going through a rough spot—a dry existence that lacks nourishment and substance. Anything I try to grow just withers and blows away toward the horizon…far away from me.
I look back on these times of my journey. You have sent many showers of refreshment—opportunities appeared when I doubted their existence, kindness humbled me and my bad attitude, and abundant love flooded through me. Your provision has brought me back to life. My path continues, and I am no longer afraid of the droughts I may face along the way.
Praise and Dependence
“All That I Have”
Now may the God of peace…equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:20-21
It isn’t much, this offering of my life, but it’s all that I have to give. It isn’t much, this day I have lived, but
it is what I have to offer right now. My praise might not sound like the salutation of angels, but it is all my
lips can form.
My heart often feels void of the compassion you possess, but it is ready to be filled by your love. My future is uncertain, but it is yours to shape. Receive these humble offerings with pleasure and grace. May
you take the raw materials that make up my life and transform them into a journey and offering that serves your will and delights your heart. Even when I can’t see value in one of my days or in a few of my words, I trust that you use my life for glory when I walk in your way and speak from a heart shaped by you.
Plans and Prayers
“On Schedule”
The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty. Proverbs 21:5
It seems like I am always comparing my life plan to that of others. I wonder if I am behind schedule for
all that I hope to have or accomplish. God, forgive me for this constant and worthless use of energy. Grant me the discipline to break the habit of letting my concerns for tomorrow control my today. I want contentment that comes from trusting you. I don’t want to rush into decisions that reflect what others are doing. I want to wait on your leading.
My life will unfold in the way you intended for me. There is comfort in knowing I do not need to catch up
with anyone else’s plan. I have a custom-made life, and I am right on schedule.
