When you think about the primary things you want your toddler to learn, the trinity probably isn’t one of them (it’s probably not even in your top 100) Most of us barely feel confident explaining this doctrine to other adults. The triune nature of God is something theologians with lots of fancy degrees have been wrestling with for centuries. We might even feel the need to apologize for the trinity, as we would an embarrassing uncle. “There’s one God but three persons. I know, it’s confusing. Sorry.”
The trinity doctrine is vital to our understanding of God because it teaches us what He is like. We shouldn’t be apprehensive or unsure about trying to teach it to our kids.
You’re never too young to learn about God. That’s the belief that inspired the creation of Little Seminary, a board book series for toddlers.
In this engaging series of short books, toddlers are walked through the big concepts of the faith. These hard-to-grasp concepts are pared down to simple statements and combinedwith colorful art that captivates little ones’ attentions.
You may be wondering, why toddlers? They haven’t even mastered the whole “speaking the English language thing” yet. Here’s the three (no coincidence here) reasons why starting spiritual training during infancy matters.
We’re never too young to know there is a God
No age limit exists for to learn about God and the world He created.
Early familiarization forms a foundation for the future
Will children understand these concepts right away? No. It will take years of concentrated effort (learning about God is a lifelong pursuit), but that’s okay because it’s slowly giving children a familiarity with the things of God and teaching them the language of how to talk about Him.
Developing a Christian worldview from day one
This series aims to infuse important theology into your children’s spiritual DNA, so it will always stick with them. As you share the tenets of Christianity piece by piece, day by day, and concept by concept, your children will eventually realize that they’ve never known a time where they didn’t have some sort of understanding of God.
So…a board book about the Trinity? Yes, and there’s much more to come. And who knows? You may pick up a thing or two, as well.
