God has given us a great gift: the truth. This catechism is designed to help children know and love the truth, to see how all of life is centered on God, and to find joy in following Jesus. The word catechism might sound old-fashioned, but it simply means teaching through questions and answers. It’s a time-tested way of learning what the Bible says, one step at a time, with simple truths that shape how we see the world and live in it.
The Gospel Way Catechism for Kids isn’t just about memorizing words on a page; it’s designed to help children understand God’s story and their place in it. This catechism also seeks to show that much of what passes for common sense in our world goes against what God says is true. Kids hear messages all the time, and we want to equip them to know the truth of God’s Word and to spot the lies in today’s culture.
QUESTION 44:
Why Do We Tell People About Jesus?
ANSWER:
We tell others about Jesus because of love: love for God who gave his only Son as the only Savior, love for our neighbors whose salvation we desire, and love for the gospel that reveals the truth about our world.
“You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on a lampstand, and it gives light for all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:14-16).

Have you ever come across something so amazing, something you loved so much, that you just had to tell someone? Maybe it was a favorite book, or a game you love to play, or a show you love to watch. When we love something, we don’t keep it to ourselves—we tell others! The gospel is the best news ever, and Jesus told us to share it with others.
The world says, “Religion is private. Believe what you want, but don’t push it on others.” Some people think telling others about Jesus is pushy or rude. But the Bible says that sharing the gospel—telling others about Jesus—is an act of love. If Jesus is the only way to God, then telling people about him is the most loving thing we can do.
We don’t tell people about Jesus because we’re just checking something off the list of commands Jesus gave us. We tell people about Jesus because we love him and because we love them. We love God, we love the gospel that tells us the truth about the world, and we love people who need to hear the truth. We want everyone to have eternal life. We want Jesus to satisfy the spiritual hunger in everyone’s souls.
Imagine if a doctor found the cure for a terrible disease but refused to tell anyone. The gospel is too good to keep to yourself. Who will you share the news of Jesus with?

1. Why do you think Jesus said we are the light of the world? How can you “shine” in a way that will help people see God’s love?
2. Have you ever been super excited to tell someone about something? What was it? How does that feeling help us understand why we share about Jesus?
3. Some people think sharing the gospel is pushy. What’s the difference between forcing someone to believe something and lovingly inviting them to trust in Jesus?
PRAYER PRACTICE
Pray for Boldness: Ask God to help you have the courage to share about Jesus with friends and family. Pray that your words and actions will reflect his love.
Pray for Specific People: Think of someone you know who doesn’t yet follow Jesus. Ask God to give you opportunities to show his love to them and share his truth.
Pray for Open Hearts: Ask God to prepare people’s hearts to hear the gospel and to help you speak in a way that shows kindness and love.
