We treasure our mommas at the Grace-Filled Homestead. Whether we call you Nannie, Meema, or just plain Mom, you deserve an extra special treat on Mother’s Day. Occasionally you can find true charcuterie letters or numbers already cut out at your local craft stores, but no worries if you can’t. Grab your crafting knife, cut around the top of the cardboard letter edges, and remove any support pieces inside to give you plenty of space to pamper the special lady in your life.
Ingredients:
Colored tissue paper or parchment
paper (optional)
1 cup green olives
1 cup kalamata olives
24 pepperoni slices
24 salami slices
1 cup Colby-Jack cheese cubes
1 cup cheddar cheese cubes
1 cup cashews
12 lemon sandwich cookies
12 mini cookies
6 mini strawberry Bundt cakes (we use Hostess Baby Bundts)
1 cup pretzels
3 mini blueberry muffins
1 cup popcorn
Edible blooms (optional
Directions:
Start by lining the inside of each letter with colored tissue or parchment paper. This step is optional; however, it does make the display prettier and keeps the letters cleaner. I like to start by placing the olives in small serving bowls and setting these inside the letters. I then fill in the spaces in the letters with the meats, cheeses, and nuts, followed by the rest of the treats. To make it extra special, add a few of Mom’s favorite seasonal blooms as a garnish. What a wonderful way to honor the amazing women in your life.
The combination of letters or numbers is endless. Of course, you can also use a number board to celebrate a special birthday. When our favorite three-year-old had a birthday this year, we ordered fancy cupcakes for her friends and filled in the rest of the areas with her favorite treats. It was a hit! One of my best friends used charcuterie numbers at her daughter’s graduation party.
